A pro level feature the EC155 has that you will find in very few lower price espresso machines is its pump driven mechanism. Steam driven is the norm for makers at this level but not so with the 155. This limits the pressure levels they can apply and, as any professional barista knows high pressure is essential for making a perfect cup.
The EC155 delivers 15-bar of pressure which gives you the pressure power you need to barista at the pro level at home.
However the boiler is not brass as is the case in a lot of professional makers, it's stainless steel. That's hardly surprising though at the mid price level as to use brass would lift the price into a much higher bracket.
Stainless is not a problem in my opinion, it's used in many machines that cost a lot more and you will be very pleased with the coffee I'm certain. Basically the EC155 makes a lovely shot.
The main difference between steel and brass is the temperature control which isn't quite as consistent with steel, yet the machine is so well made that this is a very minor point that only the fussiest barista might pick up on in a blind taste test.
Smooth crema by way of innovation
The dual function filter holder in the EC155 is a big reason for this. This innovative function allows air in during brewing which delivers a superb crema.
Need to make a lot of coffee = No problem
A removable 35oz (1 litre) water tank lets you make a lot of coffee per run. And being removable means that clean up is fast and easy.
Make a note of this as many home owners of espresso machine owners tend to get a bit lax about mineral buildup after a while as it can be annoying to decalcify some machines.
Fast cleaning
With a removable tank you should never get a big calcium build up. Simply take it off and pour in some baking soda and vinegar mix in and you will clean out any calcium carbonate in no time.
Pods for fast results
ESE pods (Easy Serving Espresso) pods are compatible with the EC155, they make creating super brews very easy and are a great fallback when if you are short of the time for using regular grounds.
Just pop it in and brew, no measuring and spooning of grounds required. And then just take out and put in the bin afterwards, no clean up needed.

The swivel jet frother is another popular feature. It lets you add lovely foamy top to your brews with ease.
