He wakes from his afternoon siesta, /flapping legs and hands, /a bluebird perched on the birch/ branch of mother’s arm/ready to raid/cornfields/in his father’s heart/ THE ESAI POEMS is the first of four books under the series title of BREAKING BREAD WITH THE DARKNESS by American Book Award recipient Jimmy Santiago Baca. The Esai poems are a poignant blend of Baca’s wonder of his and his partner’s newborn son, and the thoughts and observations of the world he will be inheriting, includlding, including war, racism, indifference and greed. Through Esai the wonder-struck new father explores the idealic world of his family through Esai’s new eyes, "He studies his hands as if they are newly discovered planets . . .”but realizing the harsh realities of our times adds perspective with juxtapositions: "I’ll wait to tell him how in some places armies cut off the hands of rebels…”Written as a series of thematically connected and dated poems, moving back and forth between ideas, The Esai Poems are some of Baca’s strongest poetic work. Already father of two grown sons, Baca explors the implications of beginning another family with another woman. Subsiquent volumes will include explorations of self and family with Essays and Stories, The Lucia Poems (to his young daugher), and to his son, Tones and Gabe Poems and Essays.

The fascinating Bolivian president Evo Morales is vying with the brash and provocative leader of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, to be the most influential figure in South American politics today. Since coming into office four years ago, Morales has been intensely critical of the United States, speaking out against the drug war at the United Nations and implementing socialist programs at home, including the nationalization of British Petroleum holdings and other foreign investments. And he has reached out to America’s political enemies, including Cuba and Iran. Based on personal interviews and unprecedented access, Sivak traces the rise of Morales from his humble origins in a family of migrant workers to his youth as union organizer and explosion onto the national stage.

Sean Penn delivered a star-making one-two punch in the early ’80s, debuting as stoner Jeff Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High and turning up only a few months later, all but unrecognizable, as a steel-nerved teenage convict in this raw, powerful prison drama–and both performances hold up remarkably well. While the story line of Bad Boys has the familiar contours of classic jailhouse melodram…

Driver Ball Position

PurePoint Golf Instruction – Driver Ball Position – Driver Golf Swing

I often see a number of amateurs prepare for their driver golf swing by walking up, after they have teed the ball up, they just take a step back and they address it. They grip the golf club and they address it, and they sort of just plot their feet down wherever they land, but let me tell you the proper way.

This way you'll be able to get the ball in the correct position more often than not. After you have the golf ball and you've gripped it and you have addressed it, then you'll just look down, take a peek down, and if this golf ball is running towards the left heel, then this is correct.

If you look down and you see the golf ball is a little too far forward off your left, that's too far forward and you'll probably see that the shoulders are aimed too far to the left.

On the other hand, if you look back down and you think the ball is too far back in your stance when you put this shaft along you, you'll be aiming way off to the right.

So, after you've addressed the golf ball, all you have to do to get ready for your driver golf swing is bring the shaft up and lay it along your shoulder line, and it should be going in the direction you want to go with it.

If you get it too far back in your stance at address, you'll wind up aiming your shoulders too far off to the right.

And if you get it off the left heel, this should be proper for most people.

Give that a try the next time out.
